The Maine Academy of Natural Sciences has an anticipated opening for an organized, flexible, high energy teacher with the ability to work well in a fast-paced collegial environment.  Candidates should meet both Maine Certification and highly qualified requirements.  Demonstration of subject matter knowledge, backwards design and strong classroom management skills are necessary

 

Qualifications:

  • 100 Certification preferred.
  • Proven ability to support learning through hands-on, visual and group problem-solving experiences.
  • Experience teaching content area literacy, higher level thinking and 21st Century skills.
  • Experience with standards-based grading preferred.
  • Proven success with data analysis, interventions and the RTI process.
  • Positive Behavior Support knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Experience integrating technology tools to enhance learning, assessment and communication.

Located on several hundred picturesque acres of wilderness, organic farmland and river frontage on US Route 201 in central Maine, the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences (MeANS) focuses on agriculture, the environment, forestry, other career skills training, and independent living skills. Students come to MeANS from local schools and from across the state, with room and board options available.
