We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our multi-disciplinary team as Special Education Teacher in our Preschool Program at our Scarborough location. The Special Education Teacher oversees the preschool program serving students with significant needs including medical, behavioral and intellectual disabilities; collaborates with parents, therapists, Ed Techs and BCBA in meeting goals for students within a functional life skills classroom setting.
This self-contained preschool class has the potential to integrate with the existing preschool program. The Program role models and teaches acceptance and friendship among all. The staff is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of licensed/certified special education teachers, educational technicians, physical, occupational, speech and language therapists and a school nurse.
This is a full time position located at the Buxton Center Elementary School, working 7:45am – 3:15pm.
Must have valid Maine Teaching Certificate, with or eligible for 282 Certification
Experience with students with significant disabilities and autism required
