ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Eligible for appropriate Maine State Department of Education certification with CTE endorsement # 820. 
  • Hold a current Maine Master Electrician’s license. 
  • Certification as a NCCER trainer is preferred. 
  • OSHA Construction - Instructor Certification preferred
  • CPR/First-Aid Qualified, Instructor certification preferred 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintains professional certification as a Master Electrician and facilitates the program’s NCCER certification. 
  • Provides learning opportunities in the electrical careers field based on the occupational standards determined by the Maine DOE/CTE. 
  • Take state-required education courses to acquire Professional Teacher Certification, and acquire CEU credits to maintain current certification.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small, and large group instruction.
  • Deliver state required program specific curriculum.
  • Administers standardized and common assessments as determined by the Maine DOE/CTE assessment plan. 
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. 
  • Regularly assesses each student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and prepares progress reports. 
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss the student’s progress as it relates to the curriculum. 
  • Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events based on the responsibilities of the assigned position. 
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to help students access and benefit from the curriculum. 
  • Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools. 
  • Attend Individualized Education Plan meetings and adhere to accommodations.
  • Selects, budgets, and assists with the purchase of books, instructional supplies, equipment and technology based on current industry standards and best practices aligned with the curriculum. 
  • Participates in professional development to advance the vision and mission of the district. 
  • Regular participation on school and district committees is strongly encouraged. 
  • Regularly utilizes student data to inform instruction. 
  • Maintains technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating.
  • Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles. 
  • Facilitates critical thinking, problem-solving solving, and creativity skills. 
  • Makes connections and establishes relationships with local business and college representatives to stay current in the occupational field and to provide career development opportunities and information for students. 
  • Actively promotes the program and assists in the marketing plan for both the program and the school to students, parents, and other target audiences. 
  • Coordinates live work projects with classroom work to facilitate meeting goals and objectives of the curriculum. 
  • Maintains the learning and working area in a safe condition and keeps all equipment properly repaired either personally or by contacting requisite professionals after consulting with the director. 
  • Continues professional growth through various means such as professional learning communities, conferences, workshops, professional memberships readings, etc.
  • Follow and adhere to all District and Foster CTE Center policies and procedures.
  • Advances the school and district's vision, mission, and school improvement efforts.
  • Attend state tech update workshops/meetings when possible. 
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Foster CTEC Director. 
Salary42,864.00 - 79,704.00 Annual
