Specific Job Details:
Starting Fall 2024
Biddeford Regional Center of Technology is expanding its programming. We are seeking to hire a dynamic individual to develop and teach our new Culinary Arts program in a newly built facility. This position will be responsible for developing a Culinary Arts program from the bottom up. This position instructs students to learn the industry professional standards, gain certifications, and supervise student activities so that students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes related to employment or post-secondary education in culinary studies and related fields. This position will work with other programs for interdisciplinary student experiences.
Qualifications:
1. Current Maine certification # 891 or eligibility to gain ME DOE certification.
2. Current CHRC background check approved by the DOE
3. Seven years of work experience or six years of experience with an associate's Degree, or three years with a Bachelor's degree.
4. B.A. preferred but a minimum of associate degree from a technical school or accredited college in culinary arts;
5. Flexibility with scheduling/coverage during special events
6. Willingness and ability to obtain professional certifications as needed.
7. Ability to work with hotels, resorts, restaurants, and recreational facilities to facilitate the placement, supervision, and evaluation of students in work-based learning environments.
8. Ability to participate in the marketing efforts for the program.

Brief Job Duties:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

1. Responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and instructional environments, curricula, and activities that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their education. Professional and social development.
Instructs students in basic and advanced culinary skills; maintains safety and sanitation standards aligned to local and state standards and licensing. Participates in catering jobs, which may involve after-school hours.
2. Establishes and maintains standards of behavior required to provide a positive, conducive learning environment for all students.
3. Communicates verbally and through written word effectively with colleagues, administration, parents, community members, and students. Demonstrate the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
4. Participates in faculty and/or District meetings and the sponsorship of off-site student activities
5. Maintain all professional certifications
6. Exercise knowledge of students' growth, development, and learning through the lens of diversity.
7. Follow District policies and maintain student records in a timely manner.
8. Establish and maintain dual enrollment relationships with post-secondary schools.
9. Evaluate student learning and performance on a regular basis and record and report in a timely manner.
10. Assists in marketing activities to promote the program
11. Assist students with job shadowing, internship employment opportunities, and community projects in related fields
12. Assists the Director in the development of a program budget
13. Maintains an active Program Advisory Committee
14. To work with the community and involve students in community projects within the scope of the curriculum.
15. Individuals must meet the physical demands of those who must be working in the culinary field: the ability to lift 25 lbs, walk, stand and sit, and work in a moderately loud environment.
