Baxter Academy for Technology and Science is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Substitute Teachers to join our school community for the 2026–2027 school year.
Baxter Academy is one of Maine’s ten public charter schools and a tuition-free public high school focused on innovative, project-based learning in STEM and the humanities. Our students are encouraged to think creatively, solve real-world problems, collaborate with others, and approach learning with curiosity and purpose.
About the Role -

Are comfortable learning and using new ideas, technology, and instructional approaches.

Share an interest in STEM, innovation, or interdisciplinary learning.
Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Substitute Pay Rates -
Baxter Academy offers substitute pay rates based on educational background and assignment length.
Assignment Length and Rates-

Full-day rate: Assignments of more than 3 hours. Pay ranges from $120-$130/day, based on educational background.

Half-day rate: Assignments of 3 hours or less. Pay ranges from $60-$65/day, based on educational background.
Required Certification -
Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification is required.
