Director of Facilities & Maintenance – Wiscasset School Department
This is a full-time, senior administrative role reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Director oversees all buildings, grounds, and custodial/maintenance staff for the district (Pre-K through Grade 12).
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and supervising all custodial and maintenance staff (hiring, scheduling, evaluations)
- Overseeing building repairs, preventive maintenance, and upgrades across all district facilities
- Handling HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Managing the departmental budget and vendor invoices
- Maintaining safety compliance and supporting emergency preparedness
- Coordinating snow removal and grounds upkeep
Requirements: A high school diploma, supervisory experience, strong communication and organizational skills, a valid driver's license, and the physical ability to perform manual labor. Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and experience in an educational setting are preferred but not required.
Compensation: Salary based on experience, plus a full benefits package including health insurance and paid time off.
