Crossing Guard – Winslow Public Schools
We are seeking a reliable and responsible School Crossing Guard to join our team that is committed to keeping kids safe at Winslow Public Schools . As a School Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians crossing the street on the way to and from school. You will be working in school neighborhoods, interacting with parents, children, and other members of the community.
Duties of this position include directing and controlling the movement of school children at an assigned intersection; coordinating the flow of traffic with the flow of the students and providing safe crossing of the roadways while modeling appropriate behavior for the children.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Choosing good times to stop traffic to create safe gaps for crossing
- Standing in the street with a handheld STOP sign continuously displayed to show that pedestrians are in the crosswalk.
- Verbally direct children and families across the street.
- Recognizing and communicating potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment.
- Fulfilling job requirements outdoors in all weather conditions.
SCHEDULE: 2 hrs. per day
This position follows the school year calendar.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fingerprint (CHRC) Certification
- Strong situational awareness including traffic patterns and laws.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners
- Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others.
