Special Education Teacher K-6, Functional Support Program

Our unique teaching positions allow you to work with your students and be provided with secretary and leadership support, along with dedicated paperwork time up to one full day a week. We believe that special education teacher positions hold unique responsibilities and it is important to provide structures for our teachers to feel successful and competent in their roles. We have a great department here in MSAD 52 and we are looking for dedicated teachers to be a part of our team.

The Special Education Teacher positions promote and develop successful learning for students who are eligible for IDEA services. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with 282 Special Educator state certification or a 282 Conditional certification 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement for students eligible for special education and in the maintenance of required referral records in the electronic databases.
  • Participates in and at times facilitates the Individual Education Plan process from the initial referral through the provision of services for students.
  • Develops and implements Individual Education Plans following State and Federal regulation.
  • Develops and implements direct instruction, which provides appropriately ambitious individual academic and functional growth.
  • Evaluates, documents, and maintains appropriate documentation of studentprogress both academically and functionally.
  • Consults, facilitates and monitors student progress in the regular education setting and serves as a resource to school staff.
  • Coordinates with the assigned Special Education ed techs providing scheduling,planning, training and support based on ed tech level and student and program need.
  • Collaborates frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the academic and functional progress of students.
  • Maintains confidential information relating to students, staff, and district stakeholders.

Base Salary: $44,989.00
