Position Summary:

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that quality, comprehensive social services are provided for enrolled children and families. This includes direct involvement in recruitment and enrollment, supporting families to develop goals and to access community services and resources utilizing a case management model. This individual will work in partnership with program staff to provide technical assistance to enhance their ability to support family goals.

Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements:  The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  1. Minimum of one year of prior related experience required.
  2. Ability to maintain a commitment to professionalism.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  5. Ability to organize tasks, be flexible and work independently.
  6. Ability to engage in ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional skills.
  7. Flexible schedule to include some occasional evening and weekend work.
  8. Knowledge of applicable federal and state performance standards, Agency’s Operation Plan and Child Care Licensing regulations.
  9. Knowledge of Agency’s programs, procedures and guidelines.
  10. Knowledge of family and group dynamics.
  11. Knowledge of community resources and services available for families.
  12. Knowledge of Child Care and Head Start eligibility requirements.
  13. Must have knowledge of computer applications relative to the software utilized by the Agency and a general knowledge of computer functions.
  14. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license with a good driving record and must have an adequately insured vehicle, if conducting Agency business.

 Minimum Education Requirements:  The following education requirements are considered essential: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human, Family or Social Services, or the equivalent of related Bachelor’s education a plus and demonstrated experience in Human, Family or Social Services case management.
