Waynflete seeks an experienced costumer for the theater program in grades six through twelve beginning in August 2025. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and demonstrates a creative and collaborative spirit, resourcefulness and flexibility in support of the theater program. Responsibilities include costuming for one middle school play and three upper school co-curricular productions, including a musical. Productions support casts of 15-30 students. Rehearsal and costume work sessions are from 3:30-5:30, Monday through Friday from September to April. Production meetings, extended hours and weekend obligations are expected during final production weeks. Work days can be flexible and the position includes the mentorship and guidance of a student costume crew and must accommodate, encourage and nurture student learning and participation. The job may also include some management and care of our onsite costume shop.
Candidates should have a college level degree as well as costuming, design and theater experience. A theater or costume design degree is ideal. Additionally, experience and training in sewing, draping, costume design and teaching are essential. Knowledge and connections to local theater resources are also helpful.
