Summer Camp Program Director

Mount Desert Nursery School is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Summer Camp Program Director to lead our summer program for children aged 2–5. The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the summer camp, including daily programming, staff coordination, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and fun environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a variety of age-appropriate, fun, and educational activities to keep children actively engaged each day.

• Supervise, support, and manage summer camp staff to ensure high-quality care and programming.

• Create weekly schedules and program plans that reflect the developmental needs and interests of young children.

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children, staff, and families.

• Ensure safety and well-being of all children through vigilant supervision and adherence to school policies and procedures.

• Communicate regularly with families and staff to share updates and respond to any concerns.

• Manage camp supplies and materials, staying within budget and maintaining organized spaces.

• Support smooth daily operations, including drop-off/pick-up, transitions, and mealtimes.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in early childhood education or camp programming, preferably with ages 2–5.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to plan and lead engaging activities in art, nature, music, movement, and imaginative play.

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

• A passion for working with young children and creating memorable camp experiences.
