Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

The Orrington School Department is looking for an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher with Maine State certification as Teacher of Exceptional Students (282). Experience working with children who present with emotional, learning, developmental, and behavioral challenges is desired.  This person should also be effective as a team leader who is experienced in designing individualized academic and behavioral programs for students.  

A creative, enthusiastic, certified teacher to supervise a self-contained program for students with multiple disabilities who require a strong behavioral component.  The Successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in:

• Performing classroom observations
• Appropriate modifications
• Consultation with the school BCBA and related service providers
• Supervision of support staff
• IEP development
• Special education process
• Collaboration with the staff
• Maintain special needs records
• Successful instructional strategies
• Behavior intervention and management skills
