School Psychologist - District Wide for the start of the 2025-2026

The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and collaborative problem-solving meetings regarding programs and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Current Maine School Psychology Certification (093); 
  • Knowledge of methods of assessment; systematic processes to collect data, translate assessment results into empirically based decisions about service delivery and evaluate outcomes of services; 
  • Knowledge of learning processes, appropriate instructional interventions to meet students’ needs, and the ability to implement and assess their effectiveness;
  • Knowledge of behavioral mental health, collaborative and/or consultation models and methods and their application;
  • Ability to provide leadership and training to staff in the areas of disabilities; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings; 
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons; 
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct psychological and academic evaluations and interpret results for students and participate in IEP meetings, 504 Accommodation Plan meetings, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings. 
  • Conduct classroom observations at times and and interpret results for students and participate in IEP meetings, 504 Accommodation Plan meetings, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings. 
  • Support staff with the necessary special education paperwork related to disability identification. 
  • Lead crisis intervention efforts and provide insight into the development of functional assessments and behavior intervention plans.
  • Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment as appropriate
  • Contribute in the design and implementation of appropriate interventions and accommodations for students. 
  • Contribute to program development that furthers the integration of social, coping, and problem solving in the classroom. 
  • Provide support to parents/guardians as needed to support their understanding of the evaluation report. 
  • Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or community. 
  • Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data. 
  • Participate in building or program activities and meetings as appropriate.

Salary:  TBD

Job Goal: To provide assessment of students and consultation services to staff in order to comply with State and Federal Special Education regulations.
