  • Responsibilities

The School Nurse will serve as the primary health care provider within the school setting and will be responsible for a wide range of 
student health services, including but not limited to:

  • Provide direct care to students who are ill or injured, including first aid and emergency response.
  • Assess and monitor students; health status, identifying acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and in compliance with policies.
  • Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, growth, etc.)
  • Maintain and update accurate student health records, including immunization data.
  • Develop individualized healthcare plans for students with special medical needs.
  • Promote health education for students, staff, and families.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community health providers to support student health care needs.
  • Monitor and help control communicable diseases in compliance with state and local health guidelines.
  • Partcipate in emergency preparedness planning and communication.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Maine
  • Bachelor of Science certification or eligibility preferred (if applicable).
  • Experience working with school-aged children or in pediatric/community nursing preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid and AED certification
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, health-focused school environment.
