Role Overview

The Bangor Regional Therapeutic Day Program is seeking a visionary Regional Program Director to lead our highly specialized K-12 therapeutic treatment program. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee instructional programs designed for students with behavioral/emotional disabilities or autism spectrum disorders, ensuring a supportive environment that fosters both academic and social-emotional success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Leadership: Oversee all operations of the regional special education program and collaborate with regional administrators to implement specialized instruction.
  • Instructional Supervision: Lead, supervise, and mentor teachers in school improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and evidence-based assessment.
  • Data-Driven Progress: Analyze and discuss behavioral data and academic achievement to inform program adjustments and individual student progress.
  • Safety & Crisis Management: Supervise and implement Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) techniques in accordance with safety standards.
  • Compliance & Advocacy: Ensure full adherence to Maine Unified Special Education Regulations (MUSER) and Chapter 33 governing physical restraint and seclusion.
  • Fiscal Management: Develop and monitor the annual school operating budget to ensure resource optimization for therapeutic and educational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Maine State Certification: Must hold appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (typically Building Administrator #040 or Director of Special Education #030).
  • CHRC Approval: Current Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) fingerprinting approval required.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Practical understanding of K-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment for students with intensive needs.
  • Crisis Training: Proficiency in using and supervising Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) techniques.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience as a School Principal or Special Education Administrator.
  • Proven track record in leading school-wide improvement initiatives and supervising multidisciplinary teams.
