Library Educational Technician III
The Augusta School Department is currently seeking a Library Educational Technician III.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to positively interact with K through 6 grade students and staff, have a strong background in children's literature and an understanding of audio-visual equipment and digital literacy. The individual will maintain and operate a library (i.e. run lists, check in/out materials, shelve books, assist with inter-library loans, order books, and other library duties.). The individual will be able to consult with the District Library Specialist. This position will be shared between Farrington (.80) and Hussey (.20) Elementary Schools. The individual will be under the supervision of the building principals.
Responsibilities:
* Plan weekly library class for grades K-6 and library experiences in conjunction with the District Librarian.
* Check students into and out of the library;
* Maintain library records which include issuing overdue notices, inventory, and updating patron records;
* Maintain discipline and behavior protocols;
* Keep track of library supplies and submits needs to the District Librarian; and
* Help maintain the physical space.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Ed Tech III Certification
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Friendly, reliable, customer service oriented, and yet firm while managing students
- Skilled use of computer
- CHRC (fingerprinting)
- Experience preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 90 credit hours of approved study in an educationally related field;
- Educational Technician III authorization, Maine Department of Education;
- Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check;
- Prior experience working with school age children preferred;
- Ability to communicate and interact positively and effectively while maintaining
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Works in standard office and school building environments.

Certification/License:
- Maine Certified Educational Technician III
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Rate of Pay: Per Support Staff Contract
