Special Education Teacher K-8

Job Description: 

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students in grades K-8 with special educational needs. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, focusing on life skills development.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence.
  • Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Utilize various instructional techniques, assistive technologies, and accommodations to facilitate student learning.
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers and support staff to coordinate services and ensure student progress.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and caregivers to support student success and well-being
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhace teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education
  • Comply with all relevant state and federal regulations, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachlor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid K-8 Special Education Certification (282 endorsement)
  • Prior teaching experience, preferably in special education settings.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal , and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
