Carrabassett Valley Academy has full-time and part-time openings within our growing Ski Cross Program for the 2024-2025 season. The ideal candidates have a solid racing background in ski cross or alpine. Coaching experience is a plus. Candidates must have enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, a desire for personal growth as a coach, and the ability to connect with athletes. Compensation is competitive with housing and benefits for full-time coaches. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Full-time Academy Coach:

  • Coaching the Ski Cross Development team (ages 15 and under)
  • Managing travel and training camps/planning for the season
  • Training with athletes 5-6 days a week when at Sugarloaf
  • Providing video analysis of athletes
  • Goal setting for each athlete
  • Ski tuning and waxing
  • Budgeting and reconciling financial costs 
  • Traveling for one week, or more, at a time required

Other Duties

  • Perform requisite number of weekday and weekend dormitory duties required of all faculty and staff 
  • Tap into a student’s passion for skiing, love of the outdoors, and willingness to work hard to help each athlete achieve his/her/their personal best

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Weekend Program Coach:

  • Coaching the Ski Cross Weekend Program athletes, ages 8-18.
  • Execute athletic training on weekends and vacation weeks at Sugarloaf Mountain.
  • Travel to local races to coach athletes.
  • Effectively communicate with athletes, parents, and coaching staff.
  • Complete written athletic evaluations at the end of the season.
