AOS #94 invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools serving the communities of Athens, Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Harmony, and Ripley in central Maine.

AOS #94 is a collaborative educational organization that supports the Athens, Harmony, and MSAD #46 (Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Ripley) school communities through a shared central office structure while maintaining each district’s local identity. Position Overview
The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of the AOS #94 Board(s), overseeing all aspects of the educational program, operations, and personnel across the member districts. The successful candidate will lead a highly functioning, small, close-knit, and globally connected system that integrates technology and international learning opportunities for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership that advances student achievement and a safe, supportive learning environment across all AOS #94 schools.
- Implement and uphold Board policies; ensure compliance with state and federal laws and Maine Department of Education regulations.
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate administrators and staff; foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and instructional excellence.
- Develop and manage budgets in partnership with the business office and local boards; steward resources responsibly and transparently for multiple communities.
- Engage regularly with families, community members, and town officials in Athens, Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Harmony and Ripley; communicate clearly and build strong community partnerships.
- Support curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that prepare students to be “ready for college; ready for career; and ready for anything.”
Qualifications
- Maine Superintendent (010) certification or eligibility for conditional certification required
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
- Minimum of five years of successful administrative experience in K-12 Education
- Demonstrated successful experience in educational leadership, including building or district administration; teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Maine Education Laws, regulations, and funding mechanisms
- Proven strength in instructional leadership, personnel management, and school improvement.
- Strong skills in communication, community relations, and collaborative decision-making with multiple boards and stakeholder groups.
- Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices, and instructional best practices
