Job Title: Athletic Trainer Location: Westbrook High School, Westbrook, Maine Position Type: Full-Time (School Year)


Job Summary: Westbrook High School is seeking a dedicated and qualified Athletic Trainer to provide exceptional care and support to student-athletes across all sports programs. The Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with coaches, school staff, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes. This individual will be responsible for injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions in accordance with best practices and state regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
? Provide athletic training services during practices and home athletic events.
? Assess injuries and develop treatment and rehabilitation plans for student-athletes.
? Maintain accurate and confidential records of injuries, treatments, and progress notes.
? Communicate effectively with coaches, school nurses, administrators, and parents regarding injury status and care plans.
? Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare providers to facilitate referrals and return-to-play decisions.
? Design and implement programs for injury prevention, including conditioning and stretching routines.
? Monitor and maintain athletic training facilities, supplies, and equipment.
? Ensure compliance with all MPA, school district, and MaineHealth protocols related to athletic health and safety.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (Master’s preferred).
? BOC certification (Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers).
? Maine state license or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
? CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adolescents and adults.
? Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.
Work Environment: This role is based at Westbrook High School and involves working in athletic facilities, gyms, outdoor fields, and occasionally travel with teams for competitions. The athletic trainer must be able to lift/move athletic equipment and support injured athletes as needed.
Supervision & Support: This position is employed and managed by MaineHealth and is directly supported by Westbrook High School through its athletic department. The trainer will work collaboratively within the school community while being clinically supported and supervised by MaineHealth to ensure alignment with medical best practices.
