Director of Facilities and Transportation
MSAD #31 is seeking a Director of Facilities and Transportation to manage the facilities and will oversee facilities and transportation for MSAD 31. Responsibilities include: hiring, supervising and evaluating custodial, maintenance, and transportation staff; establishing and administering schedules and procedures for the custodial care of all buildings; scheduling transportation, including bus routes, athletics travel, and field trips; regularly inspecting buildings to ensure safety, security, and cleanliness; regularly examining buildings for needed repairs; developing and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule and an on-going five-year capital improvement plan; preparing and managing the facilities and transportation budget; inventorying and ordering supplies and equipment for buildings; advising on the hiring of contractors and engineers; and complying with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to facilities and transportation. This position begins July 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will have:

Post-secondary training in facilities maintenance (associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree preferred);

At least three years of supervisory experience in a business, governmental, or non-profit setting;

Knowledge of building maintenance, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems;

Knowledge of OSHA regulations, including the proper handling of hazardous materials;

Knowledge of transportation operations, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling;

Strong organizational skills;

Ability to communicate effectively;

Computer literacy;

Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approval.
