Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology is an administrative-level position reporting to the Head of School. The Director of Information Technology provides overall leadership, planning, and management of all areas of information technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with the school’s academic and administrative leadership, provide strategic planning and strong collaborative leadership to set the direction and implement information technologies to support the school’s mission.
  • Manage all information technology resources including budgets, network infrastructure, academic and administrative systems, hardware/software, and phone/cell phone services.
  • Create and administer the technology operating and capital budgets.
  • Provide and maintain a high quality technology support environment for all faculty, staff, and students.
  • Work with the academic leadership to develop and implement strategies to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Establish and enforce information technology standards, procedures, and policies.

Skills and Experience

  • Significant Information Technology (IT) leadership experience and proven success in managing information technology resources and services, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Ability to articulate a vision for information technology in an educational environment and to develop strategic and operational IT plans to achieve that vision in collaboration with key users and the academic and administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive partnerships with end users as the result of effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High commitment to quality services and enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-standards organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and related technologies including: VMware server and desktop virtualization, Microsoft Server OS and Active Directory, and networking (SANs, VLANs, Wireless, Firewalls).
  • Experience with educational administrative systems such as Power School, Virtuous, Aplos, Office, and Google Apps, Cisco Hardware, Meraki Hardware, Cisco VOIP Phone System, Unity Voicemail.
  • Familiarity with E-Rate Funding.
  • Ability to thrive as an integral member of a team while being able to work autonomously on long and short-term initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree: Required
  • Master’s degree: Preferred, in IT, education or related field
  • IT management experience: Strongly preferred
