Law Library Director/Associate Professor of Law

 

The Donald L. Garbrecht Law Library of the University of Maine School of Law plays an important role in the intellectual and educational life of the School of Law by supporting the research and study needs of students and faculty and providing assistance to the judiciary, bar, and other members of the legal community, and to the public. The position of Law Library Director/Associate Professor of Law (Law Library Director) is a full-time faculty position within the School of Law, with comparable rights to those on the “tenure track.”

 

The Law Library Director is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the Law Library, including determining and administering library policies and programs to accomplish the Law Library's mission of educating students, supporting faculty in their teaching, scholarship, and service, and providing assistance to the legal profession and the wider community.

 

The position of Law Library Director is a full-time faculty position within the School of Law.  The successful candidate will start as soon as possible but no later than August 2024. Rank and salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. Members of minority groups, women, and others whose background would contribute to the diversity of the Law School are encouraged to apply. Required:


Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
