Margaret Chase Smith School is seeking to hire a caring, energetic and responsive fourth grade teacher to join our wonderful team. MCS serves approximately 380 students in grades PreK-4 in the Sanford area. We proudly offer outstanding specialists in art, music, physical education, health and media/library. While we provide Title I literacy and math, English to Speakers of Other Languages and Gifted and Talented Programs, our staff and students are also supported by coaches and interventionists in literacy and math. Requirements:
We are looking for a team player who loves children and is passionate about teaching and learning. Additional requirements include:
-Current Maine #020 certification including CHRC (fingerprinting) or eligibility for same
-Knowledge of early child development and experience working with elementary students
-Well versed in all academic areas
-Solid knowledge of effective instructional strategies
-Classroom management techniques that foster a positive learning environment
-Familiarity with Second Step and experience with Restorative Practices (including leading morning meetings) and the use of Community, Academic and Restorative Circles is a plus.
