Trades Support Educational Technician III

Foster Career and Technical Education Center

 

 

Job Goals: The Educational Technician III at Foster CTE Center supports instruction across multiple trade programs. This individual assists classroom instructors, maintains a safe and effective learning environment, and supervises students in both classroom and shop settings. The Ed Tech III also supports compliance with school policies, contributes to classroom management, and provides transportation for programs as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 90 approved college credits.
  • Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) - Fingerprinting Approval.
  • Experience in multiple trade areas is preferred.
  • Valid certification in applicable fields; OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • Employment offers are based on the successful completion of a driver physical, reference Article IV - Examinations of the support staff CBA.

Instructional Support:

  • Assists classroom teachers in the delivery of approved curriculum.
  • Prepares for classes and instructional activities as assigned.
  • Works with individuals and small groups in classrooms, shops, and during field trips.
  • Conducts and supports group activities such as reading aloud, storytelling, drill work, and technical instruction.
  • Assists in guiding the learning process toward curriculum goals.
  • Teaches or reviews technology or trade-specific skills to individuals or groups as requested.
  • Supports students in developing workplace behaviors and safe working practices.

Classroom & Shop Environment:

  • Supports staff or individuals in day to day activities, assists staff with shop maintenance and compliance. 
  • Supervises students in both classroom and shop environments.
  • Supports a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Encourages and enforces rules of behavior in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Maintains order and safety in classroom and shop environments.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate records and documentation as required.

Professional Conduct:

  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding students and families
  • Assists in maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Adheres to all district policies, school rules, and team standards
  • Participates in in-service training and professional development as assigned
  • Maintains professionalism and effective communication with students, staff, and the community
  • Keeps current in multiple technical disciplines, educational trends, and instructional technologies

Supervision & Operations:

  • Supervises students during class in the absence of the instructor, classroom transitions, boarding buses, field trips, and special programs.
  • Assists with shop upkeep and compliance tasks.
  • May supervise volunteers and work with instructional staff at any FCTEC site.
  • Responsible for operating and transporting students in a 14-passenger bus as needed for program activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises students, classrooms, shops, and volunteers under the guidance of classroom instructors.
  • Works collaboratively with instructors and administrators to support student learning and program operations.

Terms of Employment

  • As determined annually by the district and subject to contract provisions.

Reports To:

  •  Director of Foster Career and Technical Education Center

Evaluation:

  • Evaluated at the end of the probationary period, and annually thereafter by the Director of FCTEC in consultation with assigned instructors.
