The Westbrook School Department is seeking a Physical Education Teacher at Westbrook Middle School. The Middle School Physical Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive physical education curriculum for students in grades 5–8. The teacher will promote physical fitness, healthy habits, teamwork, sportsmanship, and student engagement in a safe and inclusive environment.
Among other things, the successful candidate will have the ability to:
- Create and implement PE curriculum that aligns with state standards and school policies, covering topics like fitness, sports, and healthy habits.
- Teach a variety of PE activities, including individual, dual, and team sports, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Evaluate student performance through observation, tests, and practical assessments, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress.
- Contribute to school-wide physical activity programs, organizing events like field days, fun runs, or walking programs.
- Ensure a safe and appropriate environment for all PE activities, implementing safety protocols and monitoring student behavior.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in physical education through continued education and professional development.
