Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Family and Consumer Science Teacher to join our collaborative team in grades 6-8 in a school committed to project-based learning. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching subjects such as nutrition, food preparation, child development, career exploration, textiles, and sewing. A passion for hands-on, real-world learning is essential, along with a strong commitment to student engagement. Candidates should be comfortable integrating technology into the classroom, eager to collaborate with colleagues, and continuously strive to improve their practice to meet the evolving needs of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lessons on topics such as nutrition, food preparation and food safety, childhood development, career studies, textiles, and sewing
- Contribute to a project-based learning environment
- Evaluate student progress and adapt instruction to meet student needs
- Effectively communicate with students, peers, parents, and administrators
Qualifications/Skills
- Knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
- Ability to adapt lesson plans based on student needs within different learning groups
- Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing
- Desire for ongoing professional development and improvement
Requirements
- Background check, including fingerprinting
- Maine Teaching Certification with Family & Consumer Science Endorsement (670) required (or show evidence of Maine Certification eligibility).
Pay and Benefits
- Pay starts at $51,151 to $97,187 depending on step and degrees
- Health Insurance (including Vision)

Camden Rockport Middle School, housed in a beautiful new building, serves just under 400 students in grades 5 – 8 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRMS has been implementing a Project Based Learning model of curriculum and instruction and values students’ active engagement in the learning process.
