The York School Department is seeking a 0.5 Ed Tech III to support their Multilingual Learner Program. Under the general supervision of the School Principals and Multilingual (ML) Teacher, the Ed Tech will support identified K-12 Multilingual Learners in meeting their listening, speaking, reading and writing proficiency goals, to foster communication skills, develop an understanding of purpose through exposure to literature of all types, motivate students to read a wide variety of publications to derive information, comprehend and critically assess the reading materials, and to promote the development of skills in the field of English reading, grammar and syntax.

Essential Job Functions:
Supports and administers ML curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Assists ML Teacher in organizing and maintaining systems for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Supports students in the classroom setting through enabling one-on-one or small group instruction.
Supports student access to the curriculum through pre-teaching and re-teaching relevant content/concepts.
Assists in teaching knowledge and skills in English grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary and proper word usage, word denotations and connotations, creative writing, independent thinking, communication and speaking.
Conducts ongoing informal/observational assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, cooperating ML Teacher and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone
Travels between four schools as necessary. The school department will reimburse at the IRS rate up to the contracted monetary amount.
The position will require physical and mental demands while working in a standard office and school building environment.

Certification/License:
CHRC Fingerprinting
Education:
2 years of college preferred
Experience working with and supporting a lead teacher.
