Reports to: Special Education Director

Full/Part-time positions available - In-person

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current State Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Maine Department of Education certification for Special Education (if applicable)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master's Degreee in Speech-Language pathology from an accredited university - required
  • Maine Certification or eligibility for certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist - required
  • Experience working with students in a school setting - preferred
  • Knowledge of various speech and language disorders, communication strategies, and assistive technologies - preferred

Job requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for students with speech and language delays, disorders, and communication needs
  • Ability to manage a caseload, keep detailed reocrds, and report on student progress
  • Comfort with adapting strategies and interventions to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners
  • Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced school environment

Job requirements:

  • Assessment and Evaluation:  Conduct speech and language assessments to identify students' communication needs & develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Individualized Therapy:  Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students with identified needs
  • Collaboration and Consultation:  Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the development & implementation of individualized strategies for student success
  • IEP Development and Progress Monitoring:  Actively participate in IEP meetings, contribute to goal setting, & track student progress
  • Behavioral Support:  Provide speech and language interventions that support students in both the academic & functional areas
  • Professional Development:  Participate in ongoing training & professional development
  • Documentation and Reporting:  Maintain accurate records of therapy, assessments, billing, & progress reports
  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork:  Collaborate with special education staff, general education teacers, & other related service provides to ensure a holistic approach
