Falmouth Elementary School seeks a dynamic and innovative full-time K-2 Special Education Resource Room Teacher with social-emotional support experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive an inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education. This role involves collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other support staff to create a positive and effective learning environment.




Case Management:


  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with social-emotional and academic needs.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records.




  • Provide direct instruction in social-emotional and academic skills to students, using evidence-based practices.

  • Design and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Utilize various instructional strategies to promote student engagement and learning.


Behavioral Support:


  • Implement and monitor positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) in the classroom.

  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students as needed.

  • Collaborate with school psychologists, counselors, and behavior specialists to address student needs.




  • Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to ensure that students' needs are met in inclusive settings.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.

  • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and external agencies.




  • Maintain regular and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.

  • Provide updates and reports on student progress to relevant stakeholders.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for students, staff, and families.


Professional Development:


  • Stay current with best practices in special education, social-emotional learning, and academic instruction.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.

  • Mentor and support new special education teachers and staff as needed.


Assessment and Evaluation:


  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress.

  • Use data to inform instruction and make necessary adjustments to IEPs and teaching strategies.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and supports.




  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.

  • Valid state teaching license with a special education endorsement.

  • Additional certification in reading programs is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using technology and adaptive tools to support student learning.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.


Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the required certification 282 Teacher of Students with Disabilities Grades K-8.
