Job Goal(s): As the IT/Cybersecurity Instructor, you will play a vital role in preparing the next generation of professionals to protect our nation’s critical infrastructure. This role focuses on bridge-building between foundational IT skills and the rapidly evolving threat landscape. You will lead a curriculum-based program centered on the CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability), preparing students for high-demand roles such as Information Security Analysts, Ethical Hackers, and Systems Administrators.
 
  • Real-World Readiness: Utilize hands-on learning and simulated scenarios to prepare students for the Maine workforce.
  • Portfolio Development: Help students build a broad Technology-Based Portfolio to advance their academic and employment careers.
  • Evolutionary Learning: Teach foundational security basics while continuously updating the curriculum to reflect current global threats.
  • Ethical Foundation: Integrate creative and critical thinking skills to help students navigate the social and ethical implications of modern technology.

Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: Proven experience in the IT/Cybersecurity field or relevant trade experience with a working knowledge of current industry standards.

Certifications

  • Holds or is eligible for Maine state Career and Technical Education Endorsement (6-12) Computer Information Services (823).
 
Performance Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction
  • Develop and refine a scope-and-sequence based on industry standards, collaborating with a Program Advisory Committee of industry leaders.
  • Differentiate instructional materials and assessments to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.
  • Deliver engaging activities that emphasize teamwork, as collaboration is critical to success in the cybersecurity field.
Lab & Safety Management
  • Monitor and instruct students in the proper use of specialized shop equipment and software.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with OSHA compliance and professional industry safety standards.
Professionalism & Administration
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
  • Participate in the annual program budget development and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance.
  • Stay current with emerging techniques and industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco) to ensure program relevance.

Working Schedule
  • School Year Only (180 days)
  • 7:30am - 2:45pm 
Travel Requirements
  • Travel may be required at times through out the school year. 

Reports To: Director of Foster Career and Technical Education Center

Terms of Employment:  Governed by the Professional Staff Bargaining Agreement 

Evaluation: Completed annually by the Director of Foster Career and Technical Education Center
