Summer Camp Staff

Join Our Summer Camp Team at Baxter Academy!
Location: 185 Lancaster Street Portland, Maine

Baxter Academy for Technology and Science is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging individuals to join our team as staff members for our 5-week summer camp program.

This exciting summer camp will serve middle school/ early high school students from both Baxter Academy and the local community. Each week, we will host approximately 12 students for a fun and enriching experience. Camp hours (when students are present) are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and all activities will begin at Baxter Academy.

The camp runs from Monday, June 23 to Friday, August 1, 2025 (note: no camp week of June 30).

 Summer Camp Weekly Themes

• June 23–27: Marine

• July 7–11: Gardening & Farming

• July 14–18: Engineering & Design

• July 21–25: Photography

• July 28–August 1: Chess 

Open Positions

We are currently hiring for the following roles:

Instructional Staff

• Stipend: $1,700 per week

• Schedule: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM (includes 1 hour of prep)

• Responsibilities: Lead engaging, student-centered learning activities aligned with each week’s theme.

Camp Director

• Stipend: $1,800 per week

• Schedule: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM 

• Responsibilities: Manage logistics, transportation, staffing, family communication, supply purchasing, credit card use, and van rentals.

Driver

• Pay: $30/hour (as needed)

• Responsibilities: Provide safe transportation for campers based on weekly needs.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Experience working with students

• Must hold a valid CHRC certification from the Maine Department of Education

• Must hold a valid ESEA certification
