St. George School is a community-centered K-8 public school located in picturesque Mid-Coast Maine. We are looking for a part-time Food Service Director to join our school community next school year (2025-26). This is approximately a 10-hour per week position that would begin mid-August, although there will be some trainings to attend earlier in the summer. This position reports directly to, and works closely with, the Business Manager. The Food Service Director will be responsible for:
- Managing the school food service program in accordance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Providing leadership to the kitchen staff and monitoring adherence to service and quality standards, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations.
- Assuring that sanitation and safety standards in all phases of the school food service operations meet established standards.
- Supervising food service workers, including training, scheduling, and work assignments.
- Developing menus that comply with nutrition objectives and support operational goals of the school nutrition program.
- Promoting and expanding the food service program.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have prior successful experience in food service.
- Have experience in menu planning, food purchasing, and food preparation.
- Have strong communication skills and be able to communicate with staff, parents, vendors, and students in a professional, police and courteous manner.
- Be motivated, goal oriented, and dependable.
- Be a team player and work cooperatively to develop relationships to support healhty habits for all.
- Have ServSafe Certification.
- Have a current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) from the Maine Department of Education.
