Description

The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking five (5) lifeguards to work at the Fitness and Recreation Center (FRC). The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to keep the pool area safe and enjoyable for everyone. Candidates must be able to ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors. Lifeguards must be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills and able to work with diverse populations. Lifeguards must be able to enforce pool policies and be able to communicate effectively why policies are in place. This work schedule is on an as-needed basis, not to exceed twenty (20) hours per week.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications (within 30 days of employment) 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous lifeguard experience 
  • Knowledge of campus recreation general user guidelines
