Position Summary:

The Teacher is responsible for the supervision of classroom staff, supporting the coordination of center operations and the implementation of all Agency, state and federal policies, procedures and practices.  The Teacher plans, implements, and documents an effective, quality, comprehensive, family centered child development program.

Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements:  The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  1. Teaching experience with children ages 0-5 preferred (required if no degree in Early Childhood Education).
  2. Supervisory experience desired.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  5. Ability to effectively work with parents.
  6. Ability to effectively supervise other personnel.
  7. Possess sincere interest in commitment and ability to the provision of quality programs for children and families.
  8. Possesses or applies for an Education Technician Certification from the Maine Department of Education within 30 days of employment, as applicable.
  9. Must have knowledge of computer applications relative to the software utilized by the Agency and a general knowledge of computer functions.
  10. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license with a good driving record and must have an adequately insured vehicle, if conducting Agency business.

 Minimum Education Requirements:  The following education requirements are considered essential:

 Associate's degree/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience teaching children ages 0-5 and experience in human services.

  1. Teacher of record in a Department of Education Public Pre-K program must possess a 081 certification.
Salary18.55 - 20.67 Hour
