RSU 10 DISTRICT is seeking a FT(40hrs/wk)/SY -Special Education Clerical Support Person to work Disrtict-Wide

Job Title: Special Services Support Secretary

Reports To:  Director and Assistant Directors of Special Services

Looking for an extremely organized individual, with good command of technology to scedule IEPmeetings across the District schools. Ability to work from home as well as special education offices. Time can be flexible.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from high school required. 
  2. Post secondary vocational or secretarial training is highly desirable.  Previous office or school office experience desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

This is a responsible and varied secretarial/clerical position requiring knowledge of practices, procedures and paperwork associated with Special Services

An employee of this class is in frequent contact with the general public, parents/families and staff members and must exercise tact, maintain confidentiality, respect and discernment in these contacts. Work involves various typing, word processing, filing, record keeping.  Work is performed under general supervision following routines and guidelines.  Within the established standards, performance is subject to considerable independence.  Work is reviewed through methods and results achieved.

Requirements of Work:

CHRC(fingerprinting)

  1. Ability to handle confidential student and staff information.
  2. Proficient with email and verbal communication
  3. Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.  
  4. Working knowledge of business English, grammar, spelling, and the layout of special services letters, documents and forms.
  5. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments effectively.
  6. Ability to learn the rules, procedures, and routine operations of the District.
  7. Ability to process routine correspondence and inquiries following establish procedures.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relations with all staff and public.
  9. Ability to use computer word processing programs and data entry programs.

EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only)

  1. Works closely and collaboratively with the Special Education Teachers/Case Managers, Building Based Coordinator, Building Principal and Director of Special Services
  2. Contacts parents and families to schedule/reschedule various meetings. 
  3. Schedules IEP and 504 meetings for the building
  4. Maintains and monitors building IEP calendar
  5. Answers telephone and personal inquiries, takes messages, and directs requests for information to the appropriate persons.
  6. Photocopies, sorts, mails, and files special services materials such as Advanced Written Notices, Written Notices, IEPs, evaluations, and other students related materials.
  7. Uploads and files signature documents in the database and in cumulative records maintained in the school
  8. Maintains and tracks documents containing signatures
  9. Attends IEP meetings to assist with paperwork completion specifically the Written Notice within the database
  10. Accurately Inputs data into the Individual Education Plan to support teachers/case managers 
  11. Forwards students records to appropriate agencies or offices as directed.
  12. Performs other work as assigned by the Administrative Assistant or the Director of Special Services.
