Position: School Nurse
School Year 2026-2027
About Us:
Hancock Grammar School is a small, community-focused Pre-K through 8 elementary school located in beautiful coastal Maine.
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled School Nurse to support the health and well-being of our students.
Responsibilities
The School Nurse will serve as the primary health care provider within the school setting and will be responsible
for a wide range of student health services, including but not limited to:
- Provide direct care to students who are ill or injured, including first aid and emergency response.
- Assess and monitor students' health status, identifying acute and chronic health conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and in compliance with policy.
- Conduct health screenings(vision, hearing status, and follow-up as needed.
- Maintain and update accurate student health records, including immunization data.
- Develop individualized healthcare plans for students with special medical needs
- Promote health education for students, staff and families.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents and community health providers to support student health care needs.
- Monitor and help control communicable diseases in compliance with state and local health guidelines.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and communication.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Maine
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, or equivalent nursing degree.
- School Nurse certification or eligibility preferred (if applicable)
- Experience working with school-aged children or in pediatric/community nursing preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid and AED certification.l
- Strong Communication,organizational, and collaboration skills.
