Culinary Arts Instructor
RSU 1 is seeking a full-time Culinary Arts Instructor to join our dynamic Career and Technical Education team at Bath Tech. This position provides students with hands-on, industry-aligned training that prepares them for careers and postsecondary opportunities in the culinary and hospitality fields.
The Culinary Arts Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with Maine CTE frameworks. The program emphasizes food preparation, kitchen safety, sanitation, customer service, and real-world culinary operations, including student-run cafés and community events.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver hands-on culinary instruction aligned with CIP 12.0503 standards
- Teach food safety, sanitation, kitchen operations, and professional culinary techniques
- Integrate ServSafe and OSHA 10 training into the curriculum
- Supervise students in lab and commercial kitchen environments
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with staff, administration, and advisory committee members
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment
Qualifications:
- Industry experience in culinary arts, food service, or hospitality
- ServSafe Certification (required or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to hands-on, student-centered learning
Certification:
- Possess or meet eligibility requirements for Food Production Management, 9-12 (891)
- Current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
