Description of Position:
The Assistant Principal is appointed by the Head of School and is directly responsible for the daily implementation of school expectations and student accountability for a positive, productive, safe, and healthy school climate. The ideal candidate is a productive, professional collaborator and will be able to interact with students, parents, and teachers in a variety of situations; brings a structured and holistic discipline approach; and has experience in instructional leadership. The Assistant Principal will have experience in real-time learning and the integration of academics with serving community needs. He/she supervises and manages students during the academic day, on Flex Fridays, at co-curricular activities, and is responsible for student welfare issues and works for the success of all students.
Requirements to Apply:
- Master's Degree and evidence of ongoing professional development
- Minimum of 6 years of experience teaching with student-centered approach, and in a high school preferred.
- Commitment to Baxter Academy’s mission
- Experience with community-based learning.
- ELL certification preferred.
- 045 Maine State Certification and/or Demonstrated school leadership with certification pending
