AOS 43/MSAD 41 (Milo, Brownville, LaGrange) is seeking a Director of Special Services to oversee Special Education and Chapter 504 programming and services for students in grades PK-12. Responsibilities include: facilitating IEP and 504 team meetings; ensuring the implementation of IEPs and 504 plans; monitoring the progress of students with an IEP or 504 plan; supervising, training, and evaluating the Special Education staff; preparing and managing the local Special Education budget; providing input on the annual Local Entitlement application; and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to Special Education and Chapter 504, including maintaining impeccable records.
The successful candidate will have appropriate certification (030) from the Maine Department of Education, strong communication skills, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of and commitment to providing the least restrictive environment for all students identified for special services.
MSAD 41 is located in beautiful Piscataquis County and has a student population of approximately 600 students over three schools: Milo Elementary School (PK-2), Brownville Elementary School (3-4), and Penquis Valley Middle High School (5-12).
