Special Education (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)

Position Overview: The Special Education Teacher will work with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade who require additional support due to executive functioning challenges and behavioral needs. You will play a key role in designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEP's), while working closely with general education teachers to ensure successful integration of students into the general education classroom. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a supportive team and engage in the coaching and modeling of skills and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP's) that address the specific needs of students with executive functioning and behavioral challenges.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in small group and individualized settings.
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers to creat inclusive, differentiated learning environments.
  • Model and coach general education teachers in implementing strategies and interventions for students with diverse needs in the classroom.
  • Use evidence-based practices to promote student engagement, self-regulation, and academic success.
  • Monitor student progress, track data, and adjust instructional methods based on individual needs and goals.
  • Act as a resource for staff in implementing behavior management strategies and supporting students' social-emotional development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for home support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide activities.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience working with students with executive functioning and behavioral challenges, particularly in early elementary grades.
  • Strong understanding of Special Education Law, IEP development, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent with data collection, progress monitoring, and adapting instruction.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, and training.
