York High School seeks an exceptional Visual Arts educator who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our school community. The ideal candidate is an organized, energetic, creative individual who is able to inspire these traits in the students they teach while collaborating with their peers to integrate visual arts, design, and technical skills across the Fine Arts course offerings. Candidates should have the ability to teach a broad range of art courses to diverse students. All students are required to take Art I, which provides students with the foundational skills, techniques, creative problem-solving strategies, art history, and aesthetic candidates should have knowledge of the studio habits of mind, visual arts standards, standards-based assessment, and Google Classroom demonstrate a commitment to keeping current with changing technologies, and be familiar with Mac OS computers and Adobe applications.The .6 position would involve teaching 3 courses each semester. Most of our art classes are one semester in length.
Requirements:Hold valid certification in Maine for K-12 Art.Provide online links to a teaching portfolio that includes examples of student artwork and lesson plans, along with examples of one’s own artwork. A portfolio review will be part of the interview process.Positive and effective classroom management skills.Ability to teach a broad range of art courses to diverse students.Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.Knowledge of highly effective practices in art instruction
