SKCDC is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to join our administrative team to fill the following position in its Early Care and Education Program: 

Mental Health and Disabilities Manager

                                   

The Mental Health and Disabilities Manager ensures delivery of early intervention/special education and mental health services as required by federal and state law, federal Head Start performance standards and state and local licensing regulations;  applies professional expertise in child development, special education and mental health services to all aspects of service delivery for children and families; works in coordination with all other content areas in order to provide quality assurance, training and compliance monitoring in an inclusive early childhood environment and assists in policy and procedure development, Agency and inter-Agency collaboration and tracking of services.

 

  1. Minimum of two years of paid experience in inclusive early care and education.
  2. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  3. Ability to direct, oversee, monitor and evaluate the work of others.
  4. Ability to collect and analyze information, reach logical conclusions and make sound decisions and recommendations.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  6. Ability to participate fully in the planning, development, oversight, monitoring and evaluation of Agency programs.
  7. Ability to implement program policies, goals and objectives.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Agency and with multiple interagency partners.
  9. Ability to manage time, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  10. Ability to work as a collaborative team.
  11. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and requirements as these apply to the administration and implementation of all aspects of identifying and serving children with disabilities.
  12. Knowledge of Agency programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  13. Knowledge of child development theory and principles; and family dynamics.
  14. Knowledge of staff development theories and principles.
  15. Knowledge of modern management theory, principles, and practices.
  16. Knowledge of IDEA Part B and Part C.
  17. Knowledge of Chapter 101 – Maine Unified Special Education Regulations Birth - 20.
  18. Provide direct modeling and support to classroom teams as needed.
  19. Must have knowledge of computer applications relative to the software utilized by the Agency and a general knowledge of computer functions.
  20. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license with a good driving record and must have an adequately insured vehicle, if conducting Agency business.

 

Minimum Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential: 

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field. Course work in special education, 282 (0 – age 5) endorsement, and cross-training in Human/Family Services preferred.
