HCA has an opening for a full-time Special Education Educational Technician to work with students in grades 9-12. Educational Technician II or III will be considered. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an integrated faculty team and interest in Project Based Learning required. Experience working with special education including students on the autism spectrum highly valued. Willingness to be an active participant in our multi-talented team (supporting school nutrition, transportation, student activities, etc) strongly preferred.
HCA embraces a project-based, placed-based, standards-based curriculum that puts emphasis on interdisciplinary content, cross-cutting skills, and carefully scaffolded learning for students who approach school in a wide variety of ways. Our teaching practices are adapted from those of the Coalition of Essential Schools and Expeditionary Learning Schools. Because we are a “small by design” school, we seek faculty members who are eager to wear more than one hat. Our Educational Technicians are active members of our full academic team. We use a push-in support model as much as possible.
Salary and Benefits:
As a public school, HCA is committed to providing starting salaries and benefits comparable to that of our peer districts in Midcoast Maine. Salary will be commensurate with educational level and experience. Open until a suitable candidate is found.
