Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is located in beautiful Sullivan, Maine. Our amazing school is located approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth, our county seat, and 40 miles east from Bangor. In addition, we are just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the beautiful Acadia National Park. Our school is currently home to approximately 420 students in grades 6 through 12.

Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is seeking a high-energy, reliable, honest, and collaborative colleague who is passionate about students as well as their content area. This is the perfect opportunity to work with a truly dedicated faculty and staff. Experience building positive relationships with students and having the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively is essential. The successful candidate will have a knowledge of differentiating instruction to meet the various needs of all learners. We are learning for a qualifed Health teacher, pior teaching experience is preferred, but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply! 

The successful candidate will hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification.  Must hold a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate, standards-aligned lessons for middle and high school students.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology-based tools.
  • Address critical topics such as mental health, physical fitness, nutrition, human development, personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, and decision-making skills.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse perspectives and encourages student engagement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and emerging topics in health education.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and health-related school initiatives.
