Deer Isle Stonington Elementary School (DISES) is a small, rural elementary school serving approximately 250 students from preschool through eighth grade. Located in Deer Isle, Maine, DISES is part of a beautiful coastal community just east of Penobscot Bay along the Eggemoggin Reach. Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grade 3,4,5 Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom where students can develop strong academic, social, and emotional skills. This role requires a focus on foundational literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our learners.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with state standards for the grade you are teaching in core subjects including reading, writing, math, and science

Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and meet diverse learning styles

Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting instruction to support growth

Foster a positive classroom community that encourages curiosity, respect, and confidence

Communicate effectively with families about student progress and classroom activities

Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school-wide initiatives and professional
development

Support social-emotional learning and help build a safe, inclusive environment
Qualifications:

Valid teaching certification for elementary education, preferably with experience or endorsement for Grade 3,4, and 5

Strong knowledge of literacy and numeracy development for early elementary students

Excellent classroom management and communication skills
